Tom and I returned home on Wednesday night after attending Convergence 2013 in New Orleans. Southern Decadence was held while we there and we attended the parade on Sunday afternoon. I took a bunch of pictures, Tom took a few pictures, and another friend used my camera and took a lot of pictures for me since I still find it hard to get around. All told I have a little over 1800 pictures that I posted to my Flickr Account. You can check them out if you are interested in pictures of such events.

There were colored accent lights at most of the events and in the Hospitality Suite. They added some ambiance to the atmosphere but made it hard to take good pictures. There was a lot of blue lighting most of the time so a lot of my pictures turned out blue. I ended up using Adobe Photoshop to adjust a lot of the pictures before uploading them to Flickr. That took nearly a day but was worth the effort. I thought it a little strange as most of time the automatic adjustments worked great, but on some pictures the results were worse and I elected to stay with the original. On others there was very little difference. It was good thing that I opted to set the mode so that I could see the before and after images at the same time.

The event was held at the InterContinental Hotel on St Charles. The event organizers and the hotel did a great job. Everybody that I came into contact with at the hotel was super nice. I had a great time at the event and it was well attended. The last count that I heard there were 650 people registered and there were still people being registered, so I don’t know what the final count was for the event.
