I have been on Weight Watchers for the past three months and it seems to be working for me. The thing that makes it works is the tracking of everything that I eat and trying to stay within the daily guidelines. It has made me make a lot better choices when confronted with food choices, especially when eating at restaurants. I have their app loaded to my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone so that I can look up point values while at a restaurant. One problem with searching for foods with Weight Watchers is that you do a lot of guessing about foods because their database doesn’t have as many foods as I think that it should.

A few months back I found MyFitnessPal web site. This is a web site that also allows you to track what you eat, your weight, and exercise. There are a lot of similarities between the two in that what you are allowed to eat is based on your current weight (and possibly age). Weight Watchers uses points plus values to keep up with how much you can eat. Their web site and mobile apps have calculators that given the fat, carbohydrates, fiber, and protein you can calculate the points plus values for foods that are not already in their database. MyFitnessPal has daily amounts of Calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins you are allowed and when you track foods that you have eaten it updates the daily totals of each of these categories. MyFitnessPal has a lot more entries in their food database, in fact so far I haven’t come across a food that was in the database. They also have a free app for android phones that I have downloaded and tried yet. I just started the first of this year of tracking everything that I eat in both places.

In the three months that I have been tracking my eating with the Weight Watchers plan I have lost a total of 39 pounds and actually feel better. It will take me a while to see which of the plans that I like the best. The fact that MyFitnessPal is free is an incentive for that plan, however at the present time my company is paying for Weight Watchers. I will post again when I have anything further to add to either of these plans.

If you are serious about wanting to lose weight and get healthier I think both of these plans are good. If you track everything and follow either plan I am quite sure that you will have good results as well,.
